Qatar delegation headed by President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari participated at the 13th general assembly meeting of GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) concluded in Doha.
The meeting was chaired by GCCIA chairman and senior engineer Khalid al-Jassar, electricity and water undersecretary in Kuwait and Adnan al-Mohaisen, General manager of the GCCIA.
The meeting discussed various issues on the agenda related to the interconnection among member states. Kahramaa President al-Kuwari and GCCIA general manager al-Mohaisen signed an agreement for interconnection between two substations for GCCIA and Kahramaa.
According to the alphabetical order, the UAE will chair GCCIA board for the coming three-year term.
Since inception in 2009, the GCCIA has managed to increase the reliability of GCC grids by providing support at emergencies. The GCCIA is working to establish GCC power trade market.
