The National Health Insurance Company (NHIC) launched a corporate logo, and social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter yesterday.

A brand name, Seha, which means health in Arabic, was also adopted for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to be provided by the NHIC.

“Communicating with the public and ensuring that the beneficiaries know how and where to access healthcare services is very important to us,” Dr Faleh Mohamed Hussain Ali, acting CEO of the NHIC, said.

“We are launching a presence on social media to better communicate with scheme members, to answer any queries people may have and to keep the public informed and updated about the scheme and its services,” he explained.

The NHIS members can follow Seha and contact the company through Facebook and Twitter at facebook.com/SehaQatar and twitter.com/SehaQatar.

Seha recently opened the doors to its first customer service centre for the scheme beneficiaries. Located on the sixth floor of Amwal Tower in the West Bay area of Doha, the customer service centre offers insurance scheme members an additional level of support alongside the already operational call centre.

The customer service centre staff will be on hand to assist members with any queries, including general information about the scheme and its roll-out, coverage, member rights and the network providers.

Seha forms a key milestone in meeting the objectives of the Human Development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims for a healthy, productive society in Qatar and calls for accessible healthcare services.

The NHIS is being launched in five stages. The first stage began in July 2013 and the fifth stage is aimed to be completed in 2015. The second stage will see the incorporation of all Qatari nationals.

Subsequent stages will see the inclusion of white-collar expatriates, visitors and blue-collar expatriates. The ultimate goal of the NHS is to ensure that everyone living in Qatar, both nationals and expatriates, have the basic minimum healthcare services available to them.

Information and updates on the scheme are available at the Seha website www.seha.qa and through social media  accounts of the company. Members can also call the Seha call centre on telephone 4020 8444.
