The Rolls Royce is a legendary automobile. And the Rolls-Royce Wraith with two doors is epic in its dimensions.

Rolls-Royce makes them big and they motor along in epic silence carrying their colossal proportions with dignity and poise but the Wraith is built with a different intent  - for someone keen on a very involved driver experience.

The coach doors are hinged to the rear and feature a button that swing it shut automatically.

The muscular beauty of the exterior is carried into the interiors, There are no fiddly switches here.  Leather is omnipresent  - acres of it - very comforting and snug. Everything feels elaborate and yet simple, most of the controls have a proportionate heft about them.

The dynamic intent can be seen in Wraith’s deeply recessed grille, wide rear track and dramatic two-tone presentation. The sweeping fastback design gives the car a unique character. Bold lines and a raked rear screen evoke the image of a world class athlete poised in the starting blocks.

Being a two door this car is very much focused on the driver and passenger. Though the luxury detail continues into the passenger accommodation, the rear seats are unlikely to be as compelling as the ‘throne room’ atmosphere in front.

The Wraith may be different in that it does let out an audible and satisfying growl as you step on the pedal.

Once in motion and you are settled snugly into the upholstery, the overwhelming engine takes over. The powerplant develops 624HP and it will take a long stretch of road to test this motor’s limits.

As Rolls-Royce puts it “Performance delivers on the promise of Wraith’s styling thanks to a V12 engine married to 8-speed automatic ZF transmission.”

At around 150kph on the straight at the Lusail track, there isn’t even a hint of strain, but the feel of this immense car taking the bends effortlessly at 70kph can be a little intimidating.

The Wraith has Satellite Aided Transmission system which uses GPS data and the navigation system to predict the road ahead. It then automatically chooses the right gear on the eight speed transmission delivering power smoothly without any unnecessary gear changes.

This is the first time a Rolls-Royce vehicle has been track-tested in Qatar.

Rolls-Royce is introducing the Wraith with an emphasis on its speed and agility.

All models feature price tags well beyond QR1mn with the top option model priced at Qr1.9mn.

The event was organised by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha, the sole dealer of Rolls-Royce in Qatar for customers and media over the weekend at the Losail International Circuit. Rolls-Royce, as part of the drive event, also displayed the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Rolls-Royce Phantom families of vehicles, but put a special spotlight on the Wraith as a vehicle to be driven by its owner and not for being driven in.

“As the ultimate gentlemen’s gran turismo, the Wraith embodies the spirit of adventure and speed and offers a polished, effortless driving experience.”

Said Mohamed Kandeel, general manager at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha. “This first-ever drive event in Qatar for a Rolls-Royce vehicle to be held on a race track is a special milestone for us.”

“Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha was keen to showcase the Wraith’s exceptional speed, power and agility to our exclusive clients and prospective clients and so far the feedback has been excellent. While our Ghost and Phantom families are very popular as chauffeur driven vehicles, the Wraith is meant to be driven and enjoyed by its owner and we are happy that we managed to showcase its exceptional capabilities.”
