From September 1, Qatar Airways will upgrade services on its Moscow route with an increase in weekly frequencies as well as new aircraft to help meet the growth in demand to the Russian capital. |
Qatar Airways will be adding two additional flights per week to the Doha-Moscow route, taking the total frequency for each week up to 14. The airline is also introducing its newly upgraded A320 to replace the current mixed fleet of A321 and A320s, as well as a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The increase in both frequency and aircraft capacity will take the total number of Business Class seats up to 476 and Economy Class seats to 4,928 per week, an increase of 188 and 1,328 seats, respectively.
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said: “We established our Moscow route just over 10 years ago, and since then we have watched it grow steadily. I’m very pleased that we are able to meet our customers’ demand by increasing not only the frequency of flights per week, but also introducing one of the most state-of-the-art aircraft in the world to the route.”
Qatar Airways has 254 seats across its 787 Dreamliner Business and Economy Classes. Business Class is configured in a 1-2-1 layout with 22 seats, while Economy has a 232 seating capacity in a 3-3-3 layout. All seats in Business Class recline into 180-degree flat beds.
In addition to the 787 Dreamliner, a new upgraded version of the A320 will be introduced on the route. The aircraft, which is part of an ongoing customer enhancement project on both A320s and A330s, will offer Business Class seating that reclines into a 180-degree true lie-flat bed.
Qatar Airways has taken delivery of 12 of its 60 Dreamliners.
The Doha-Moscow daily schedule is as follows (all times local): QR231 departing Doha at 7.25am and arriving in Moscow at 1.15pm; QR232 departing Moscow at 2.45pm and arriving in Doha at 6.30pm; QR229 departing Doha at 12.45pm and arriving in Moscow at 6.55pm; and QR230 departing Moscow at 7.55pm and arriving in Doha at 12.05am.
