To highlight the World Autism Awareness Day campaign, Four Seasons Hotel Doha will initiate a series of initiatives by illuminating the domes at the top of the property in bright blue today. The hotel team will also prepare some special amenities for its guests and the recreation team will wear blue shirts to mark the event. These initiatives will be shared on the “Light It Up Blue” website, launched by Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organisation. “We want to show our support for the World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Awareness Month,” said Rami Sayess, regional vice-president and general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Doha.
Three-year jail term for theft
A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Nepalese worker to three years in jail and ordered his subsequent deportation for stealing money from a company, according to a report in the Arabic daily Arrayah. The man, a cleaning worker in a contracting firm, was charged with breaking open a locker in an office of a company and stealing QR39,827. He transferred a part of this money to his country and bought gold and clothes, the prosecution said. The accused confessed to the crime and returned QR10,000 to the manager of the company. The theft was first noticed by the human resources manager of the company, who also identified the cleaner behind the crime. The worker admitted that he had remitted QR19,400 to his country and also claimed that he found the money while cleaning the office. The Public Prosecution accused the worker of theft and sought punishment under Articles 341 and 389/1 of the Penal Law. The Criminal Court, while sentencing him, said the prosecution was able to prove that he had stolen the money.
