HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani holding talks with the President of the House of Councillors of Morocco, Dr Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, in Doha yesterday. Talks covered bilateral relations and means of boosting them. On Sunday, HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi met Dr Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah and discussed bilateral relations and means of bolstering them.

 

Qatar-US defence ties reviewed

HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah meeting US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Middle East Policy Matthew Spence in Doha yesterday. Talks dealt with military issues of mutual concern.  The meeting was attended by HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Air Vice-Marshal Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, the US
Ambassador to Qatar Susan L Ziadeh and senior Armed Forces officers.

 

FM receives Pakistan envoy’s credentials

HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday received a copy of the credentials of Shahzad Ahmad, Pakistan’s ambassador to Doha.

The Foreign Minister wished the Pakistani ambassador success and more progress and growth to bilateral ties between Qatar and Pakistan.

A number of Foreign Ministry officials attended the ceremony.

 

Advisory Council discusses traffic congestion memo

The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly session under the chairmanship of the Council’s Deputy Speaker HE Issa bin Rabea al-Kuwari.

During the session, the Advisory Council took note of a memorandum by the Cabinet General Secretariat on the traffic congestion in Doha City. 

The Council also reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 26 of 2005 issuing a law regulating tenders and auctions.

 

Assistant FM holds talks with senior Nato official

HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi met Nato Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow in Brussels yesterday.

The two sides discussed issues of mutual concern and relations between Qatar and Nato.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders yesterday met HE al-Rumaihi.  During the meeting, the they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries. HE the assistant minister signed the minutes of the exchange of ratification documents of an agreement on the encouragement and mutual protection of investments between the governments of Qatar and the government of the economic unions of Luxemburg and Belgium.
