HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a round of official talks with King Abdullah of Jordan at Basman Palace here yesterday.

The talks featured bilateral relations and means of strengthening them in all fields. The latest developments in the region and other regional and international issues of mutual concern were also taken up.

The talks were attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and Jordan’s Prince Ali bin Hussein and a number of Jordanian ministers.

Later the Emir attended a luncheon banquet hosted in his honour  by King Abdullah.

Earlier on arrival in Jordan, the Emir and his accompanying delegation were welcomed at Marka International Airport by King Abdullah, Prince Ali bin Hussein, Royal Court Chief Dr Fayez al-Tarawneh, Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan Zayed bin Saeed al-Khayareen, staff of the Qatari embassy in Amman and a number of senior Jordanian civilian and military officials.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim gave a statement upon his arrival in Amman in which he expressed great pleasure to meet King Abdullah and wished the people of Jordan success.

The Emir said that his visit will provide a good opportunity to exchange views and consult the Jordanian leadership on important Arab and Islamic issues, especially during the critical juncture.

The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani was accorded a red-carpet reception ceremony upon arrival in Amman. 

Later yesterday the Emir left Amman, wrapping up a one-day state visit to Jordan.

King Abdullah led the well-wishers who saw off the Emir and the accompanying delegation at Amman-Marka International Airport.

Prince Ali bin Hussein, Chief of the Royal Court Dr Fayez al-Tarawneh, Qatar’s ambassador to Jordan  Zayed bin Saeed al-Khayareen and the embassy staff together with a number of  senior Jordanian army and civilian officials were also present on the occasion. 

The Emir sent a cable to King Abdullah in which he conveyed his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him during the visit. 

The Emir retuned to Doha yesterday evening for Amman, wrapping up a one-day state visit to Jordan.

 

‘Embodiment of deep ties’

Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh stressed that the Emir’s visit to Jordan is an embodiment of the deep ties between King Abdullah HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and reflects the development of the relations between the two countries and their peoples. 

In an interview with Al Sharq published yesterday, Judeh noted the two countries’ historic ties and their keenness to develop bilateral relations. 

The Jordanian foreign minister added that the talks between the Emir and King Abdullah  will strengthen the bonds of co-operation between Qatar and Jordan and will enhance the Arab joint action. 

He appreciated Qatar’s support for Jordan and its economy, adding that his country seeks to increase the fruitful and constructive co-operation.

The Jordanian minister also appreciated the care given to Jordanian workers in Qatar, saying that they are living in their second home and contribute to the development process along with their Qatari and Arab brothers. 

He pointed out that Qatar and Jordan have united positions and they are keen to overcome the crises faced by the Arab region and that will lead to more Arab solidarity and unify efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue as well as support the peace process and stop the bloodshed in Syria.
