HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have greeted Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.

 

Congratulatory cables sent

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Salvador President Sanchez Ceren for winning in the presidential elections in El-Salvador.

 

British food fiesta at LuLu Gharafa

British ambassador Nicholas Hopton will inaugurate a British Food Festival today at LuLu Hypermarket, Gharafa, at 11.30am.

The festival, hosted by the LuLu Hypermarket Group in association with the British embassy and British Council, Doha, will run until April 9, which is Queen Elizabeth’s birthday.

The LuLu Hypermarket Group has been organising the British Food Festival for many years.

A wide variety of grocery, fruits and vegetables, delicatessen, dairy products, frozen foods, bakery products, fish, hot food, household as well as health and beauty products are among the major attractions. LuLu Group International, as a global player in the retail sector, had launched their operations in Birmingham, UK with the inauguration of Y International (UK) Ltd, during the first quarter of last year. The major activities of this full-owned subsidiary are procurement, consolidation and export of British products — including food, non-food, chilled and frozen products — to the more than 100 retail stores of the LuLu Group.

 

Katara to take part in Oman marine fest

Katara, the Cultural Village Foundation, is taking part in the first Oman Marine Festival, which opens at Al Bustan Beach, Wilayat, Muscat today. The exhibition of Katara at the six-day event includes all the items and activities pertaining to the Qatari marine history such as pearl diving, sailing and fishing gear, besides models of the ships and equipment that sailors and fishermen used to employ in their trade. There will be a special section for related documentaries. “Katara is eager to take part in all the cultural activities to which it is invited, whether they are held in GCC countries, Arab countries or any other country, ” explained Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager.
