Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) president  Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari yesterday launched the first phase of the corporation’s smart transformation through various e-services on Kahramaa’s website and application on smartphones.

The launch held at Kahramaa’s headquarters was attended by the corporation’s directors, managers and senior officials.

The new website includes various e-services covering electronic certificates, service tracking, tariff details, tenders, auctions, awards and a separate portal for the ongoing National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).

“The first phase of transforming Kahramaa into a smart corporation, provides various e-services for applications on smartphones,”  a statement said.

“This includes bill view and payment, service tracking, meter reading and certificates. The application includes sections for Tarsheed, Kahramaa news, suggestions and complaints and Kahramaa employees.”

Al-Kuwari said the launch of e-services on the Kahramaa website and application on smartphones came within a strategic plan to transform all its services into electronic, by the end of 2014 and Kahramaa into a smart corporation in 2015,” adding that “all human resources services are now smart.”

He said: “Now, customers can issue their own consumption bills by taking a photo of meter reading and submit via the Kahramaa application on smartphones. The bill will be issued accordingly.”

He thanked HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada for his support to Kahramaa initiatives. He also expressed his appreciation with the Ministry of Administrative Development for its support. 

Kahramaa, a state-owned corporation, is the sole transmission and distribution system owner and operator  for the electricity and water sector in Qatar. It was established in July 2000 in accordance with terms of  Law No 10, to regulate and maintain the supply of electricity and water to customers. 

Since its inception, Kahramaa has operated as an independent corporation on a commercial basis.
