The preparations for the fifth edition of the Qatar International Food Festival, which opens on Thursday at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, have been completed, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways announced yesterday.

The four-day annual event will showcase the five-star hospitality and food services available in the country. It will also shed light on the friendship between Qatar and Brazil by highlighting traditional cuisine and entertainment from both countries, as part of the 2014 year-of-culture
programme.

A number of internationally renowned chefs will celebrate fine dining with the freshest ingredients and latest food trends, taking visitors on a delightful culinary journey across continents.

A dedicated family zone will allow families to sample eclectic cuisine in an entertaining and vibrant atmosphere amid live music and fun activities for children. Many creative programmes and zones will add to the joy of fine dining at the festival.

The fifth edition of the festival will feature 11 general zones, including four food zones, a live cooking zone, 55 food stalls and five kiosks of restaurants and exhibitors.

QIFF has proven its success in attracting visitors from Qatar and the region, with a record 72,000 visitors last year. The festival falls within QTA’s efforts to promote Qatar as a leading tourism destination for business facilitation, authentic experiences and family-focused
recreations.

Entry to the event is free. The festival will open its doors on Thursday, the inaugural day from 5pm until 11pm, on Friday from 1pm to 11pm, on Saturday from 1pm to 10pm, and on Sunday from 2pm to 10pm. More information about the festival is available on the festival’s official website http://qifoodfestival.com/
