HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to the Mauritius President on the occasion of his country’s national day.

 

Ministers hold talks with OIC chief

HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari yesterday met with Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) secretary general Iyad Madani, currently on a visit to Doha. They reviewed cultural co-operation between the ministry and the OIC. They also discussed  ways to develop co-operation to better serve mutual interests of member states.

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed al-Hamadi also met with Madani. They reviewed the organisational structure of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) and its bodies. 

Madani was also received by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al- Rumaihi.

UN chief thanks Qatar

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday received a telephone call from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The UN chief, during the call, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Emir for Qatar’s attempts to find a solution to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and for its efforts that resulted in the release of the nuns of the Monastery of Saint Takla in the town of Maloula and of women from the prisons of the Syrian regime. Discussions during the call also dealt with the latest developments in the region.

 

Al-Attiyah in Madrid talks

Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday met with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, in Madrid. Discussions during the meeting dealt with ways to boost relations in various economic sectors besides issues of mutual interest and the latest developments in the region.  Al-Attiyah is visiting  Spain as part of tour of  European countries.
