The number of tourists from the GCC states to Europe, particularly to France, is expected to increase with the addition of Disneyland Paris as a prime family-oriented holiday destination by a leading Qatar-based travel agency.

Regency Travel & Tours CEO Tareq Abdullatif Taha said: “There is a huge demand for Disneyland Paris from this part of the world,” referring to many Qatari families who flock to “La Ville-Lumière” or “The City of Light” for their vacation.

Taha made the statement during the product launching of Disneyland Paris in Doha. He also announced that Disney Destinations International (DDI) has chosen Regency as its general sales agent (GSA) in Qatar.

“Regency’s alliance with Disneyland Paris is an exciting move that would expand and strengthen Disney’s presence in the region,” Taha added.

DDI international marketing & sales executive director Julien Munoz echoed Taha’s sentiments saying “There is a growing number of people and families from the GCC region  who frequent Disneyland Paris.” Though he did not provide an exact figure, Munoz described the number of Qataris visiting Disneyland Paris as “many.”

According to Munoz, Disneyland Paris is the top tourist destination in Europe with some 15mn visitor arrivals recorded in 2013.

He said holiday-makers can arrive at Disneyland Paris and enjoy the wide array of amenities offered during the park’s three seasons, namely “Summertime” from July until the end of August, the “Halloween Festival” from October 4 to 31, and “Enchanting Christmas” from November 8 to January 4.

Munoz said  that the latest addition to Disney’s theme park chain is the Shanghai Disney Resort, which is still under construction. Shanghai Disney Resort would be the first Disney park to be built in Mainland China.

Since opening its doors to the public in 1992, Disneyland Paris has welcomed more than 275 mn visitors who marveled at the resort’s theme parks – the Disneyland Park and the Walt Disney Studios Park. It also boasts of seven themed Disney hotels with 5,800 rooms, themed dining and other experiences from its 59 attractions, 61 shops, and 54 restaurants.
