To celebrate National Sport Day, the staff of International Bank of Qatar (ibq) participated in the 3km annual race organised by Qatar Central Bank on Tuesday.

The race was attended by an impressive number of banking and finance professionals. Male and female participants from ibq were divided into three age-groups each, 18-30 years, 31-45 years and 46-60 years.

The race winners from ibq were Ian Hudson, Sreehari Thekkedath and Scott McIvor, who came first, fourth and 10th in their respective age-groups.

“Realising the importance of sports in creating a healthy lifestyle, every year we encourage our employees to join their peers in the financial industry and to participate in such an important event to promote the practice of sports with the aim of supporting Qatar’s National Vision to become a regional and global hub for sports,” said Jabra Ghandour, managing director of ibq.

With a commitment to sports promotion, ibq is also an ongoing sponsor of several sports activities and initiatives, including HH the Emir’s Basketball Championship, Oryx football team of Lycee Bonaparte French School and Qatar Cricket Masters Tournament for the ninth year running.
