The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) has been awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation by the Qatar Council of Health Practitioners (QCHP) under the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).
The award recognises CNA-Q’s expertise in healthcare education.
Dr Jamal Rashid al-Khanji, Acting CEO, QCHP, presented the award at a ceremony last week. CNA-Q is the second organisation in Qatar to be
recognised by the council.
Dr al-Khanji said: “It is important that we utilise the country’s amazing organisations to meet the needs of the industry. The role of CNA-Q is not only to provide CPD training but also to help fill the skills gap that can occur when professionals have been in industry for many years. It is important that we work together to provide programmes to update these professionals.”
Irene O’Brien, dean, School of Health Sciences, said that CNA-Q Health Sciences graduates are well-recognised in the workplace for their knowledge base, competence and
professionalism.
“The School of Health Sciences is committed to providing existing practitioners with valid, accessible and meaningful continuous professional development opportunities that meet internationally recognised standards,” she added.
The Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) was established (as one of the units of SCH) by the Emiri Decree No.7/2013 in constant aspiration to excellence throughout the healthcare system.
The accreditation department is one of three pillar departments of the QCHP. The department is the body regulating and accrediting the medical education programmes and health academic.
The CNA-Q is a natural partner for the CPD training as its School of Health Sciences (SHS) is providing training in 10 allied health programmes ranging from dental assistance and emergency medical science to environmental health and safety, medical radiography technology, pharmacy technician and respiratory therapy.
