Qatar’s embassies in several world capitals held special receptions to celebrate the country’s National Day.

Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt Saif bin Muqaddam al-Bueinain, who is also his Qatar’s Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, hosted a reception which was attended by a number of senior Egyptian officials, Arab and foreign ambassadors accredited to Egypt, public figures, businessmen, representatives of press and media and Qatari community members in Egypt.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion, Ambassador Saif al-Bueinain said that the National Day is a day of pride for the Qatari people.

On this occasion, al-Bueinain extended his congratulations to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, wishing the State of Qatar progress and prosperity under its wise leadership. 

In Riyadh, Qatar’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ali bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud held  a reception which was attended by  Governor of Riyadh Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Relations Prince Turki bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Kabeer al-Saud, GCC Secretary General  Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Protocol Affairs Azzam bin Abdul Karim al-Gain. 

It was also attended by the ambassadors of Arab and Islamic states and foreign countries accredited to the Kingdom and a number of diplomats and Saudi dignitaries and Qatari students. 

In Sanaa Qatar’s Ambassador to Yemen Mohamed bin Hamad al-Hajri has hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day.

The reception was attended by a number of ministers of the national reconciliation government, members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, general secretaries of Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), members of the secretariat of the comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, director of GCC office in Sana’a Saad al-Arifi, UN secretary-general’s special envoy to Yemen Jamal bin Omar and representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to Yemen.

A number of tribal elders and representatives of business and industrial houses and banks as well as representatives of press, media, universities and charities also participated in the reception.

On behalf of the members of the Qatari diplomatic mission in Yemen, the Qatari ambassador congratulated HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

A number of ministers of the national reconciliation government in Yemen praised Qatar’s support for Yemen in all sectors and its keenness to achieve security and stability in the country and help it to overcome the current situation.

Yemeni Minister of Electricity Dr Saleh Sumai said in a statement to Qatar News Agency during the reception that the event means a lot for the two peoples, noting that the State of Qatar stood with Yemen in the most difficult circumstances until today.

Qatar’s embassy in Kuwait also hosted a reception.

Qatari Ambassador to Kuwait Hamad bin Ali al-Hinzab said that  Qatar, while adopting a balanced policy, has been committed to the international charters calling for the non-intervention in internal affairs of states and for the freedom of peoples and supportive to the human dignity.

Qatar’s embassy in Oman hosted a reception at Grand Hyatt on the occasion of Qatar National Day.

The reception was attended by a number of the ruling family members, in addition to a number of ministers, state and advisory council members, senior army and police officers, foreign ministry officials, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Oman as well as a number of businessmen in the Sultanate.  

In Abu Dhabi, Qatar’s Ambassador to UAE Faris bin Roumi al-Nuaimi  held a reception attended by UAE Minister of  Energy Suhail bin Mohamed Faraj Faris al-Mazrui, Minister of State Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan al-Jaber,  chairman of the National Advisory Council Abdullah al-Masoud, assistant foreign minister for economic affairs Khalid Ghanim al-Ghaith,  assistant Secretary-General of the Public Authority for Youth Welfare  Abdul Mohsen al-Dosari as well as  a large number of senior officials and dignitaries,  civilians and military personnel, and heads of Arab and foreign  diplomatic missions and media persons.

The reception  was also  attended by Qatari students attending  military and police colleges in the UAE.

In Khartoum, Qatar’s embassy hosted a reception with the participation of a wide range of political, national forces and community figures.

On this occasion, Sudanese Investment Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail appreciated Qatar’s support for Sudan.

He described the relations between Sudan and Qatar as strong and applauded the Qatari efforts that promoted peace and real stability in Darfur, contributed to regional stability and made “The Doha peace agreement” a real and successful model.

On behalf of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and the Sudanese people, the Investment Minister congratulated Qatar’s leadership and people on the occasion of the National Day .

In Beirut, Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Hamad al-Marri held a function which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister in the caretaker government of Lebanon Samir Mokbel as representative of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister in the caretaker government,  MP Ali Bazzi,  representative of the House Speaker, Mohamed  Mashnoq representative of the Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam as well as a number of ministers and MPs, a number of ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to Lebanon along with a number of political, cultural, art, media, religious and Lebanese military figures. 

In Islamabad, Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sayar bin Abdulrahman Almauda held a reception on the occasion of the anniversary of Qatar National Day.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistani Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahi  Khaqan Abbasi, along with a number of ministers and members of the National Assembly and the Senate, a number of directors of departments of the Foreign Ministry, and senior statesmen and society, and Arab and foreign ambassadors and the deans of the diplomatic corps and foreign accredited to Pakistan. 

The ceremony was also attended by a gathering of Pakistani citizens who represent the elite businessmen, media professionals, journalists, women’s and other community groups, who extended  congratulations to the leadership,  the government and people of Qatar and their wishes of continued progress and prosperity under its wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. 

The ceremony included a number of cultural and media programmes showcasing Qatar’s heritage  including social, cultural life and achievements. 

In New Delhi, Qatar’s Ambassador to India Ahmed Ibrahim al-Abdullah hosted a reception which was attended by Indian Minister of State for External Affairs of India, E Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil al-Arabi, Indian Minister of State for Human Resource Development Dr Shashi Tharoor, Adviser to the Indian Prime Minister T K A Nair and a number of heads and members of diplomatic corps accredited to India along with a large number of Indian officials, directors of companies, private sector representatives, editors of Indian newspapers and Indian media and community figures.  

Qatar’s embassy in Athens, Seoul,  N’Djamena, Algiers, Tunis, Asmara, Tbilisi, Vienna, Jakarta, Djibouti, Hanoi, Bishkek and Bern, among other world capitals also held similar events to mark the National Day.

 

UN chief attends Qatar National Day reception

Qatar’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York held a reception on the occasion of  Qatar National Day. 

HE Sheikha Alia Ahmed bint Saif al-Thani, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, welcomed the guests. 

The function was attended by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, and a number of officials of the UN Secretariat. 

It  was also attended by president of the 68th UN  General Assembly Session John Ashe as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the United Nations, including representatives of Permanent  Member States of UN Security Council.

A number of prominent figures of the US society, including politicians, businessmen, as well as  a number of media representatives accredited to the United Nations in New York, in addition to members of the Arab and Muslim communities in New York also attended the reception.
