The fourth annual Qatar International Business Women Forum, organised by Qatari Business Women’s Association (QBWA) in collaboration with Interactive Business Network (IBN) honoured eight outstanding Qatari businesswomen during the event.
The two-day forum that was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed al-Thani, the Minister of Economy and Trade, concluded yesterday. Delegates from 39 countries took part in numerous workshops and heard keynote speeches from business leaders in the region and internationally.  The forum also raised key issues enabling the promotion of women in business.
The winners of the 2013 Qatari Business Women of the Year  were announced  during a gala dinner at St Regis Hotel on Monday. Eight distinguished women were honoured for their services to business and their professions.
Fawzia Ahmad al- Abdulla from Barwa Bank won the Innovation Award, while Moudhi al- Hajri won the Community Contribution and Participation Award. The Leadership winner is Latifa al- Darwish  and Future Goals & Financial Performance winner is Reem al- Harami. Anisa Jassem Mohd Sulaiman is the Business Winner and the Business Runner Up is  Aisha al-Bdeed of  Darz Design. The Professional Runner Up is Hayatt al- Shahri and Career Achievement Criteria and the QBWA Professional Winner is  Noof Abdulla Mohd al-Sulaiti. A special recognition award was given to the Qatari Golfer Yasmin al- Sharshani.
QBWA Vice Chairperson Aisha Alfardan said: “This year’s forum has been our most successful ever and we are grateful to the 1,000 delegates, many of whom travelled from across the world to attend this event. What has become clear is that regardless of where you are from, women globally are facing the same issues.”  She added that achieving success in the workplace, battling male-dominated environments and stereotypes, balancing work and home commitments and finding the right support to achieve professional success are the most common problems women face all over the world.
This year’s event saw the widest-ever participation, with delegates from Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Russia, China, Malaysia, USA, Australia and countries throughout the Middle East.
