The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Qatar, in association with Argon Global, held a workshop on ‘data analytics for internal audit using ACL technology’.
Auditors representing banks and government and private sector companies received a day-long, hands-on training with ACL software installed on their laptops.
ACL software solutions enable comprehensive, independent testing and monitoring of transactional data, enabling organisations to validate the effectiveness of internal controls across organisations and meet regulatory objectives. ACL has been used successfully by several financial institutions across the globe for data analysis and fraud detection.
“Data analytics helps deliver higher quality audit by identifying areas to reduce cost, enhance productivity, operational efficiency and detect potential frauds or errors,” said Sundaresan Rajeswar, IIA board member who organised the event for the chapter. Christian Adonis, IIA board member, introduced the speaker.
Balaji Rengarajan, a certified Master Trainer from ACL with 18 years of experience in IT audit, consulting, risk management and governance, conducted the training.
The training comprised practices in how to create tables to access data, display filtered data, verify data integrity, create expressions and compare data from different files/systems, profile data and produce reports. Fundamentals of data concepts, analysis cycles and stages of data access were explained.
P N Rajesh, vice-president of Argon Global, presented the company profile and conducted a raffle draw for iPhone 5S sponsored by AG Comm.
