HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held official talks with the leaders of Kuwait and Bahrain, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah and King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah, respectively, yesterday.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah at Bayan Palace in Kuwait.
The Emir was decorated with the Grand Mubarak Medal by the Kuwaiti emir.
During the session they reviewed bilateral relations and means to enhance them and also discussed regional and international issues.
Later the Emir attended a luncheon banquet held by the Emir of Kuwait at Bayan palace, in honour of HH the Emir and members of the official delegation.
The banquet was attended by Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Speaker of Kuwait National Assembly Marzouq Ali al-Ghanem, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Mubarak al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah and a number of ranking officials, Sheikhs, Ministers and Arab ambassadors accredited to the State of Kuwait.
Earlier on arrival in Kuwait on a day’s visit HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani was accorded a red carpet welcome.
Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah led well-wishers to welcome the Emir and the accompanying delegation at Kuwait International Airport.
Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, HE Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Ali al-Ghanim, Deputy Chief of the National Guards Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah along with a number of Sheikhs, Ministers, senior officials and Qatar’s Ambassador to Kuwait Abdulaziz bin Saad al-Fuhaid and the Qatari embassy staff were also present to welcome the Emir.
The Emir wished the Emir of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people success and further progress and prosperity.
The Emir said that his visit to Kuwait comes as part of a GCC tour aiming at meeting the Leaders of the Gulf Co-operation Council states to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, and to further strengthen the close ties between Qatar and the GCC countries.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Qatar Meteb Saleh Fahad al-Mutotah has emphasised the importance of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s visit to Kuwait.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday, the Kuwaiti ambassador said that the Emir’s visit to Kuwait is the first since taking the reins of power in Qatar.
The Kuwaiti ambassador stressed the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to develop and strengthen their relations in various fields, saying that they have interrelated relations at the official and popular levels, and that the two sides are very keen to strengthen these relations.
In Manama, the Emir held a session of official talks with the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah at the Sheikh Hamad Palace.
The talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifah, and a number of Sheikhs and ministers.
During the talks they reviewed bilateral relations and means to develop and enhance them in different fields. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
The Emir was accorded an official reception ceremony upon arrival at the palace.
