The Community Policing Section of North Security Department, in association with Sameeksha, the art and culture wing of Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), will organise a cultural fiesta for expatriate workers - Eid Ka Chand - at Al Khor Sports Club on the first day of Eid al-Adha tomorrow.

This was announced by Lt Shaheen Rashid al-Atheeq al-Dosari, community policing officer in North Security Department, at a press conference in Doha.

“The expatriate workers are our brothers and partners in the development of the country and we value their contribution to the progress of the State. We respect all expatriate workers and appreciate and thank them for their participation in the nation-building process. As we are happy on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, we are also keen to make them feel happy and enjoy this occasion like us,” said Lt al-Dosari.

He said the Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by Community Policing Sections of different security departments and the Public Relations Department, regularly takes part in programmes and occasions celebrated by different expatriate communities in Qatar. “This time, a programme has been organised for workers where security- and safety-related messages and information will be imparted and people can interact with the police to clarify their doubts or post comments,” the official added.

Lt al-Dosari invited all expatriates to take part in the event, which will feature performances by local expat singers in Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali and Tamil as well as Nepalese dance, Oppana,  Kolkali and a magic show.

The programme will be held from 5.30pm to 9.30pm and entry is free for all. The organising committee has reserved a special area for families and there will also be prizes for the audience through a raffle draw.

Abdul Nasser Natchi, general secretary of Qatar KMCC, extended his gratitude and appreciation to the MoI for selecting KMMC as a partner in organising the event. Iqbal Chettuva, president of Sameeksha, explained the highlights of the event in detail.

Faisal al-Hudawi, Community Reachout Office co-ordinator in the Public Relations Department of the MoI, also attended the press meet.
