HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani selected the design for the Qatar Metro Rail stations during a tour of the Qatar Rail Company yesterday.
The Emir was briefed on the state’s future plans for a number of vital projects such as the railway stations project, the new port, and projects related to infrastructure and the Barwa Company.
The Emir was given detailed presentations on the plans of these projects.
The Emir gave instructions to speed up the completion of these projects keeping in mind high standards of quality, perfection and integration.
The presentations on the Metro rail project included the architectural designs, the stages of execution and the modus operandi of the project.
The Emir also saw the cut-outs and schemes for the visitors’ centre and the rail project’s graphics, especially the Msheireb station.  
HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani chose the final design from among a set of six for the Metro stations. He selected the arch space design, which the designers said conforms to the Islamic architecture style.
Then the minister of transportation offered a presentation for the new port project and its stages of construction.  
Later, HE the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning and Chairman of Ashghal explained the state’s infrastructure and road projects, sanitation projects and the proposed sites and locations for the industrial zones.
Then the board chairman of Barwa Property company showcased a presentation about the used or second hand car city, which is aimed at shifting all car showrooms to outside the Doha City and these car showrooms would be assembled in a special area set for used cars.
The new area for these cars would be provided with all services including insurance, traffic and garages.
A presentation was also made on the trucks parking project which aims to organise the parking operations of trucks in one centre having all required services.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani escorted the Emir during the tour.
