Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) enrolled 118 new students for the 2013-2014 academic year. Qatari nationals make up more than 50 % of students entering the biological sciences and information systems programmes.

“We are extremely pleased to see an increase in the number of Qatari students joining us, as we pride ourselves on our alignment with the country’s national research agenda and our ability to add real value to an extremely important focus for Qatar,” said Ilker Baybars, dean, CMU-Q.

The five undergraduate programmes offered by CMU-Q are in biological sciences, business administration, computational biology, computer science and information systems. The figures show consistent growth, with 32 students majoring in biological sciences, 187 students in business administration, 84 in computer science and 97 in information systems.  Another 40 students from other Education City institutions are cross-registered to take classes at CMU-Q.

The university is already receiving applications for the 2014-2015 academic year. Students are encouraged to apply early. The application deadline for the Fall 2014 academic year is March 1, 2014.
