Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and The Ritz-Carlton Doha will celebrate International Day of Charity on September 5.
The day will be dedicated to Syrian children under the slogan “Bringing Back Their Joy”. Various events will be conducted at The Ritz-Carlton tent to mark the occasion, including recreational activities, competitions and distribution of gifts among children as well as school bags in view of the new academic year.
QRC secretary-general Saleh al-Muhanadi said the goal of the celebration is to encourage charitable work by restoring smiles on the faces of Syrian children, highlighting the plight of kids during war and mobilising support and sympathy for those who are still suffering in Syria as well as neighbouring countries. He also appreciated the efforts of The Ritz-Carlton Doha, QRC’s official hospitality partner, and their partnership.
“With the escalation of the Syrian crisis, which casts a shadow of grief on the Syrian children, we aim to draw the attention to the growing humanitarian needs and rally the community to support the children - hoping to bring back their joy. We hope that this event will be a catalyst for companies, state institutions and community members to donate to QRC’s projects that are implemented within and outside Syria to provide Syrians with all that they need in terms of equipping hospitals, treating the wounded and providing shelter, food and basic necessities,” he explained.
Hoss Vetry, cluster general manager at The Ritz -Carlton, highlighted the responsibility of all organisations and communities by reaching out to QRC - its official charity partner - and offering to organise a special event in light of the sufferings of children in tragic circumstances, like those prevailing in Syria.
“I am proud of the partnership between The Ritz-Carlton Doha and Qatar Red Crescent and that both our organisations are united with the same goals and aspirations - that of making a difference among communities - and in respect of the values we share such as humility, empathy, generosity and thankfulness for life,” he said. “As part of our company’s worldwide Community Footprints programme, we believe the International Day of Charity celebrations will crown our partnership with QRC, especially because it aims to bring the joy back to Syrian children who need all our support.”
