Drainage water
treatment plant


The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is expected to complete the drainage water  treatment plant east of Doha in the last quarter of this year, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday. Work on the project started in February 2008 at a cost of around QR3.64bl to initially serve more than 900,000 people and could be expanded to serve 1.2mn in the future. The treated water would be used to irrigate agricultural farms in Doha and its suburbs.

Man acquitted
in cheque case


A Doha court has acquitted a man of charges of signing a cheque without enough bank balance, Al-Sharq local Arabic daily reported yesterday. The court had earlier sentenced him in absentia to six months in prison for issuing a cheque of QR8,000 without balance. He appealed the ruling and further investigations with the bank revealed that the signature on the cheque was not his but of another person. Based on this, the court acquitted him.

Wyndham Grand Regency Doha has announced that the Moroccan restaurant, Tangia, is now open daily from 12 noon to midnight with live entertainment. The restaurant serves signature specialties that consist of classic Moroccan dishes created from the most well-known Marrakesh cuisine and locally-sourced ingredients.
The highlights of the menu include Lobster Harira, a traditional Moroccan soup with lobster, chickpeas, lentil, tomato, coriander and argon oil; Tangia, a Marrakesh lamb slowly cooked for six hours and served in a traditional Tangia clay pot; Chocolate Couscous Fondant, served with a red berry coulis and roasted almond ice cream; and an extensive selection of Moroccan teas. Tangia also offers four private dining rooms for social and family gatherings.
