An official source at Qatar’s Foreign Ministry yesterday expressed anxiety over the evolving events in Egypt, especially after a rising toll of civilian victims. “The source questioned the continuation of detention of the elected president Mohamed Mursi, and the risks it implies, threatening the gains of the revolution of January 25,” the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported. The source said that only a political solution based on dialogue in the context of national unity would end the current crisis in Egypt. However, this could not be achieved, the source added, in the absence of one of the two components of the dialogue and by continuing the detention of its leaders.
