Scores of old vehicles and construction equipment were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a parking yard in Sailiyah area  yesterday. However, no one was injured.

The area had witnessed a few other fires in the last couple of months. 

Yesterday’s fire lasted about 50 minutes and was put out by teams from the Civil Defence, which rushed a number of fire engines and fighters in addition to water tankers to the site.

Among the vehicles destroyed were old cars and pick-up carriers. Discarded construction equipment like earth movers and excavators were also destroyed.

Most of the fire fighters and tankers were rushed to the scene from the civil defence centre  in the Industrial Area.

No reason has been attributed to the blaze, which occurred in a place a bit far away from  residential compounds .The losses  in yesterday’s fire are still being assessed.

Sources said the previous fires  in the Sailiyah area occurred in a farm house and in a warehouse.
