QFBA launches finance course

Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) unveiled its new programme ‘Kawader’, which is aimed at young Qataris seeking a career in finance.

It is anticipated that the programme will motivate and empower talented students, providing them with a world-class education for careers in the financial sector.

Kawader is divided into two parts. The first part covers overviews of important topics such as Qatar’s financial services sector, capital markets as well as legal and regulatory
frameworks.

The second encompasses several introductions on banking, insurance, asset management as well as courses in financial English language, soft skills and corporate social responsibility, plus personal development programme.

Only 15 candidates will be selected to participate in this competitive programme based on specific entrance prerequisites including their GPA, English language proficiency and by passing a personal interview. There is also an ongoing joint effort between QFBA, the Higher Education Institute and the Ministry of Labour to attract fresh graduates and scholarship students from abroad.

“Our objective is to encourage young Qataris to engage in the financial sector with the aim being qualitative Qatarisation. The programme provides hands-on experience derived from international best practices,” said Dr Abdulazziz al-Horr, chief executive officer, QFBA.

Dr al-Horr said: “QFBA works hard to position Qatar as an international financial hub. We dream of transforming Doha into the ‘capital of capital cities’ in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 to play a role, however simple, in this
vision.”

Kawader promotes co-operation between the financial industry and academia. It primarily targets this sector since it provides a pool of talented and highly qualified individuals who understand the requirements of the market.

In general, the programme will address many of the day to day challenges that are currently faced by most organisations’ HR departments.

Kawader will also focus on how organisations can proactively recruit key qualified staff in an effort to support the country’s ongoing Qatarisation efforts.

Students will similarly benefit from Kawader through a world-class qualifications and certifications including introductory courses to financial services, insurance, asset management and banking.

The programme, whose expenses will be covered by the Qatar Financial Authority, will provide students with a stream of specific courses backed by professional qualifications as well as soft skills and personal development programmes and performance rewards and incentives.
