A contract has been awarded to consultant Burt Hill and Arab Engineering Bureau for design, supervision and consultancy for a project that envisages the establishment of a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts, local daily Al-Sharq has reported.
The centre will include specialised medical units featuring state-of-the-art equipment for examination, diagnosis and treatment. A source said an integrated and specialised team would carry out duties at the centre.
The tender for the project was recently announced by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal). The total cost of the project is over QR23mn, the report said.
The project is the outcome of significant steps taken by the Supreme Council of Health to set up an integrated centre to combat addiction in Qatar.
Cancer constitutes ‘20% of total deaths’
Cancer constitutes 20% of the total deaths in Qatar, it was observed during a recent workshop organised by Kindi Lab for Computing Research at Qatar University, local daily Al-Sharq has reported.
The workshop, which aimed to explore various aspects of cancer biomarker research in Qatar, brought together doctors, researchers in cancer biomarkers, computer experts and businessmen.
According to a statement, biomarker research provided several indications for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, in addition to personal care for the patient.
