HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari visited Qatar Music Academy (QMA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.

Accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking officials from the ministry, HE Dr al-Kuwari undertook a tour of the QMA’s facilities, including its classrooms, practice rooms and library. The minister and his delegation also attended music lessons, rehearsals and performances.

During a presentation, the minister was introduced to the vision, mission and activities of the QMA, as well as the entire range of educational programmes and community development activities that are being undertaken at present.

After viewing the presentation, HE Dr al-Kuwari said: “Qatar Music Academy has achieved a great deal since its establishment just two years ago. It has inspired me to see its young students being transformed into the next generation of musicians, and I am honoured and proud to have this institution delivering its programmes in Qatar.”

HE Dr al-Kuwari agreed to a number of proposed future joint initiatives, including closer collaboration on music research and the promotion of musical awareness and appreciation in the community.

QMA principal Dr Abdul Ghafour al-Heeti said, “We are delighted to have hosted the minister and look forward to a close and fruitful future relationship. By combining forces with Qatar Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, we can together boost our already impressive levels of success and ensure that music plays a central role in transforming Qatar from a carbon-based to a knowledge-based economy.”
