Qatar Shell was recognised by the MoI’s Traffic Department for its contribution to the 29th GCC Traffic Week.

Qatar Shell employees took the lead to create awareness on road safety by engaging visitors at the 29th GCC Traffic Week exhibition, which was organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) recently.
“We are very proud of our employees who were active ambassadors of safe driving during the 29th GCC Traffic Week. Road safety is an integral part of Shell’s social investment programme globally and here in Qatar,” said Sheikh Thani bin Thamer al-Thani, deputy managing director of Qatar Shell.
“Our road safety campaign is aimed at protecting Qatar’s most valuable resource - its people, by working to reduce fatalities and serious injuries resulting from road accidents.”
Qatar Shell was recognised by the MoI’s Traffic Department for its contribution to the 29th GCC Traffic Week. Shell’s Qatari and Arabic-speaking employees interacted with more than 4,000 schoolchildren, teaching them about the importance of road safety.
“We had a very rewarding experience at the exhibition,” said Maryam German, a Traffic Week ambassador from Shell.
“I especially enjoyed the sessions where we taught children about road safety.”
Shell hosted an interactive exhibition stand, where visitors were asked to spot the 12 hazards they could encounter on a road. The activities at the stand included showing the correct use of four types of child seats for different age groups.
The visitors had positive feedback about Qatar Shell’s U-Turn for Safe Driving TV campaign, which aims to reduce fatalities and serious injuries from road accidents.
The campaign consists of three films focusing on speed, seatbelts and the use of mobile phones and is currently running on Al Jazeera Sports Channel, MBC2 and Al Kass TV.
