Five student athletes from Aspire Academy emerged with flying colours in gymnastics at the recently-held second GCC School Sports Games in Dubai.
The Qatar under-14 team in gymnastics earned top honours by bagging four gold, two silver and three bronze medals during the event. The team comprised student athletes Ali al-Naimi, Abdulaziz Salem, Ahmed Nabeel Mousa, Abdulla al- Romaihi and Abdullah Ibrahim.
Youngsters from the academy represented Qatar and Aspire in the competition, which brought together more than 250 under-14 athletes from across the region. Besides Qatar and the UAE (who were the hosts), the other participating nations were Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.
The championship, titled Khaleegiad 2, included four sporting disciplines: gymnastics, athletics, swimming and table tennis.
Ali Ahmed al- Hitmi, student care manager at Aspire Academy and president of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation, said: “I am glad that all members of the team are Aspire student athletes and would like to thank and congratulate all members of the academy for their contribution. I am confident that we will achieve more success with our talented boys in this classic and demanding sport.”
