The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development will air its revamped radio station QF Radio with a diverse range of English and Arabic shows through two channels from today.
The programmes will be broadcast in Arabic on 93.7 FM and English on 91.7 FM, in addition to the station’s website and phone applications.
Some of the new airings today will be on innovation, technology, sport and current events. All of these programmes are produced in-house, making each broadcast unique and tailored for different audiences and making the content meaningful to the community.
Qatar Foundation Media Centre manager Saad Saleh al-Hudaifi said the expansion of services provided more opportunities for QF Radio for greater engagement with its listeners.
He said: “Since its first launch, the radio station has been keen to involve the community, especially by increasing youth participation in the station’s programmes. We are striving to provide our listeners with a platform to discuss the things that matter to them and impact their daily lives.”
The Qatar Foundation has also recently unveiled a state-of-the-art media centre to engage all members of the public.
“The rapid development witnessed by QF Radio in such a short period has urged us to keep up and ensure we maintain this pace as we continue to grow. Our new media centre will accelerate our ability to meet our long-term goals,” al-Hudaifi said.
The media centre is equipped with the latest technologies.
Its studios offer online portals and phone applications for listeners to view live video streaming of their favourite programmes and talk shows.
QF Radio is also training its staff members and radio broadcasters to operate the centre’s new equipment.
This will arm them with a broad set of skills in radio broadcasting and ensure that the studio is utilized to full capacity.
QF Radio head Nasser al-Naimi said that the Qatar Foundation is well-known around the world, and the station’s expansion has built upon this reputation.
“A key focus for the design of the media centre is to ensure the equipment is user-friendly. We believe this new approach will widen our audience base in Qatar, in addition to our audiences in 81 other countries,” al-Naimi said.
QF Radio has made great advancements since its induction.
During last year’s Qatar National Day celebrations, the radio broadcast live for a continuous 15 hours.
During the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Doha earlier this winter, it hosted a diverse suite of programmes.
The series drew listeners from all corners of the globe who were in the country for the two-week event.
Through the “Find Your Frequency” advertising campaign, the station’s new shows promise to attract more listeners.
Listeners can also visit the station’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com / qfradio or Twitter @QFRadio.
