Qatar’s passion for some of the most expensive, unique and powerful automobiles has come to the fore at the third edition of Qatar Motor Show, which concludes at Doha Exhibition Centre today.

The QR13mn Lykan Hypersport 2013 from W Motors and the QR1.9mn Brabus 800 Widestar G 65 AMG off-roader, the high-performance vehicles which had their world premieres at the show, have been sold.

“We have also had many serious inquiries for potential sales,” a W Motors official told Gulf Times at the show yesterday.

Lykan Hypersport, the Arab world’s first hyper car, is one of a series of seven vehicles, powered by a flat 6, twin-turbo, 750hp engine that slashes the 0-100km time to 2.8 seconds and boosts the maximum speed to 390km per hour.

Diamond-encrusted LED front lights and other details make it one of the most luxurious cars ever designed. The buyer of the hyper car is also gifted a QR730,000 special edition Cyrus Klepcy watch.

Brabus, the premier high-performance aftermarket tuning company, transformed the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG off-roader into the Brabus 800 Widestar.

The Brabus 800 engine conversion has resulted in an output boost to 588 kW/800hp and 1,420 Nm instead of the standard-spec 450 kW / 612 hp and a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

Brabus also sold  the C Bullit Coupe 800 at Qatar Motor Show.

“The V-12 car has already been delivered to the buyer,” an official informed Gulf Times.

The car, displayed during the opening of the show, had its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

“We have got a couple of interests too,” the official added while describing this year’s show as “much better than last year’s”.

This year’s  motor show highlighted the fact that the latest luxury automobiles are reaching Qatar faster than ever after their global unveiling, underlining the country’s growing clout in the segment.

Alfardan Automobiles hosted the Middle East premiere of the sixth generation of Maserati Quattroporte at Qatar Motor Show 2013 on January 29, just 10 days after its global unveiling at the North American International Auto Show at Detroit.

An official of NBK Automobiles, which launched the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake edition sports car and GL 63 AMG luxury off-roader at the show, said the two models are in very high demand.

The show is open at Doha Exhibition Centre from 1pm to 10pm. Children under 12 are not allowed.
