Terming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf sit-in at D-Chowk a “centre of vulgarity”, the seminaries of Deoband school of thought that are politically affiliated with the JUI-F will bring out their rally from Liaquat Bagh to Faizabad in Pakistan’s garrison city of Rawalpindi.

At the same time, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is also planning to bring a rally from Pirwadhai to Zero Point via Faizabad.

Apparently, both parties have arranged separate rallies, but will end up at Faizabad at the same time.

“We will hold a rally against PTI sit-in, where boys and girls dance,” said Maulana Ashraf Ali of Taleemul Quran, one of the seminaries that have been asked to join JUI-F rally.

He said the JUI-F was in favour of democracy and supremacy of Parliament. But he clarified that JUI-F rally would be separate from the PML-N rallies.

PML-N local president Sardar Naseem said that the ruling party would bring a rally from Faizabad to Zero Point to support the prime minister, the democracy and the Parliament.

“PML-N workers will show their street power and the rally of the garrison city will be bigger than the combined PAT and PTI sit-ins,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, district coordination officer Sajid Zafar Dall said that PML-N and JUI-F had not applied for a permission for their rallies.

He said that there was no Section 144 in the city, so the rallies will not violate the law.

However, he said that the local police had been informed and it would take preventive measures during the rallies.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan has summoned an important meeting today to review election rigging allegations during May 11, 2013 general elections, levelled by PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The meeting would be headed by acting chief election commissioner Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in which ECP secretary and all four members would be also present.

Former chief election commissioner Kanwar Dilshad said all returning officers (ROs) were not involved in the rigging, adding that only those ROs should be summoned who rigged general elections that held last year.

He said that controversial ROs should be singled out.

“Under which law the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry addressed to ROs?” the former chief election commissioner asked. Dilshad further suggested that all those printers who printed extra ballot papers should also be grilled.
