Schools need to deploy minibuses

Dear Sir,

With reference to the report, “Residents fear traffic chaos once schools reopen”  ( Gulf Times, August 29),  I feel that we all must have patience with the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the country. There will always be a little pain before we get world-class roads, so all residents must wait with patience.
At the same time, I am of the view that schools can play a major role in overcoming traffic congestion by deploying minibuses in areas with lots of roadworks, high population and traffic density such as in Matar Qadeem.
With Al Tabarani Street beside the Airport Health Centre in the Matar Qadeem area witnessing massive road and pipe-laying works, I would like to request all schools to ensure only minibuses are operated in this area. Let minibuses pick students up, using  Al Diwaniya Street, as access to cross roads like Mohamed Bin Jareer Street, Mohamed Bin Hebban Street and others have been blocked from one side.  A large number of school buses have their service to this area as  a considerable number of families reside there. If  schools start using minibuses in Matar Qadeem and similar areas where congestion is rampant, it will help ease traffic. The Supreme Education Council could issue necessary instructions about this to schools.
At the same time, Ashghal should speed up the roadworks across Qatar. Ashghal is capable of doing that as it has finished the roadworks near the Gulf Cinema signal area in  record time.

Compassion for humans

Dear Sir,

This is in response to the letter by N Nadees “Spread your wings of compassion” (Gulf Times, August 23). I really appreciate the feeling of  Nadees. One should have noble feelings like that.
At the same time I would like to ask  Nadees and others what are their feelings about the innocent human beings who are tortured and brutally killed in different parts of the world on religious grounds or for political gains.
I would like to add that the life of a human being, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, is much more prestigious than that of animals.
