Confusing road signs
Dear Sir,
The Aseer Street and Al-Reem Street junction in Fereej Bin Mahmoud is a potential accident-prone zone. Motorists who turn to Al-Reem Street from Al-Rayyan Road think it is their priority, paying little attention to the “Stop” sign at the right side of the junction.
Neighbourhood drivers or those who have got used to this confusion tread with caution from whichever side they cross this junction. Gratefully, traffic authorities have painted clear road marks at this junction recently to help direct the motorists.
However, with the new design, the “Stop” board on Al-Reem Street is still not removed, indicating it as the priority road while Aseer Street has a “Give-Way” sign, making it a non-priority street now.
This adds to the confusion of drivers on both streets whether to stop and decide whose turn it is to move first. Will the authorities clear this confusion by adjusting the clashing signs?

Immense potential
Dear Sir,
It was great to read that Anil Ambani, chairman of India’s Reliance Group, had evinced keen interest in enhancing business ties with Qatar during his recent trip to Doha (Gulf Times, August 31). There is immense potential for growth of economic relations between India and Qatar.
Ambani has been acclaimed to be a prudent and practical  businessman with great ambitions to develop his business empire along with his shareholders and employees.
It is hoped that his visit will bring these two great nations closer, taking their economic co-operation to a still higher level.
