The ISIS puzzle

Dear Sir,

When we don’t have first-hand information about events, we try to get it from trustworthy sources. When we do not find such sources, we get confused. Confusion feeds conspiracy theories. How can we find clarity when we are confused about events?

There may be one way to resolve this problem. From philosophical to engineering complications, the concept of cause and effect helps one to understand  things. Through this method, we may try to find out the motive for the actions of the so-called ISIS (also known as the Islamic State, still regularly described as ISIL, ISIS).

Why are the motives behind the group’s actions? What does it hope to achieve?  Who benefits from them? Who has equipped and armed the group? Why is it tainting the image of Islam? Why do its members display savage wickedness against innocent people?

There are hundreds of questions seeking answers. Truth will be out one day. However, while going through these questions, one becomes very clear about some facts. Islam has nothing to do with the misdeeds of the the ISIS group. Islam is not the cause. Islam is not the effect. Islam is not the beneficiary.

Islam does not teach killing of innocent people. Islam does not approve of any brutality. ISIS does not represent Islam. Its fight is not jihad. And one can be sure that the ISIS group knows these facts too.

Display of pure horror

Dear Sir,

The Islamic State group has released yet another video, showing the beheading of a British aid worker by a hooded executioner in a desert. It is a mystery what the group wants to achieve by this display of pure horror.

This group, it seems, is out to distort the image of Islam. It doesn’t stand for Islamic principles and has no idea of the true meaning of jihad.
