The business of terror
Dear Sir,
The US-based Human Rights Watch has revealed in its latest report that the FBI has encouraged Muslims, and sometimes even paid them, for plotting terror attacks (“FBI pushed Muslims to plot terror attacks”, Gulf Times,  July 22).
How could a US federal agency like FBI engage in such evil schemes and what is its purpose?  Basically, intelligence agencies and police forces are there to protect people in a country and to serve national interests. What kind of interests a security agency seeks  to protect by pushing Muslims to plot terror acts or financing attacks?
It seems that the global war on terror is a highly-profitable business for some intelligence agencies, politicians, underworld forces, power brokers, etc.  If people are healthy, medicare business shall not flourish. Similarly, if people are safe and are not frightened, the intelligence and security business shall lose their importance and may even become irrelevant. Keep the global community terrified and then the “safety” business booms!
In order to keep people in the grip of tension and fear, terror attacks are essential and such acts need the technical knowledge and planning for which intelligence, police or military assistance could be crucial.
After every terror attack, local police and intelligence agencies are anxious to link it to some Muslim organisations. Through this,  agencies and police may even be trying to avoid a strict investigation process. Once the police name the suspects (who are Muslims generally), the rest of the job is being done by the mass media with made-up formulas and theories.
In the media trial, the verdict is issued against the suspects blamed by the police. All seem happy when the curtain is down except the innocent detainees who are not aware of for what crime they are punished!
As the Human Rights Watch has discovered, those who have been entrusted to eradicate terror are its real manipulators.

Driven by fear on Qatar’s roads
Dear Sir,
The traffic chaos on Qatar’s roads is really frightening. And it is steadily becoming worse.  I am a student of  the 7th class in a school in Doha. Whenever I go out with my parents, I fear that we will not make it to the destination and back home because of the traffic situation. I dread the moments.
The other day, we went to  a hypermarket. There was so much traffic on the road that it took nearly one hour to get there. We usually make it there in just 10-20 minutes. It’s like there are more cars than people in Doha.
