Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said he was confident that the country would have new constitution on time because the political parties were engrossed in discussions to iron out differences over its contents.

“Inciting any party against consensus does not result in good,” he said, urging the parties not to incite responsible leaders against the major agenda.

The Nepalese PM was speaking at a meeting of BP Koirala Memorial Community Cooperatives Hospital in Kathmandu yesterday.

“I’ve also reminded UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to instigate any party or leader as it would be counterproductive in
constitution drafting.”

He stressed that the serious debate and discussion among the political parties on federalism, forms of governance, electoral system would be sorted out soon to deliver timely constitution.

“Consensus is the give and take which ensures agreement on constitution writing,” Koirala said, adding that it would also discourage the culture of prolonging transition.

On a different note, he said time has come for investment in Nepal, so the activities on education, health and development
should be expedited.

The prime minister also
assured help to the hospital.

On the occasion, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the people have heartily welcomed the proposal the NC floated for the constitution. He voiced concern over obstruction being created by different parties to delay the constitution drafting.

He urged the UCPN-Maoist to be positive for ensuring timely constitution.

Another NC leader Shekhar Koirala said constitution was needed on time in order to prevent further conflict in the country.
