Nepalese army soldiers firing blanks to mark the “Fulpati”, the seventh day of the Hindu festival of Navaratri, in Tundhikhel, Kathmandu yesterday. Navaratri, which translates to “nine nights” in Sanskrit, involves worshipping different deities over the nine nights and 10 days. The festival, also known as “Dashain”, Hinduism’s biggest religious festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil.
