A Nihang, or religious Sikh warrior, demonstrates martial arts skills known as ‘Gatka’ during a procession from the Sikh Shrine Gurudwara Lohgarh Sahib to Gurudwara San Sahib in Basarke, some 13km from Amritsar yesterday. Sikh devotees are marking the 536th birth anniversary of Guru Amardas, the third master of the Sikhs. Guru Amardas who lived from May 5, 1479 to September 1, 1574, was the third of the 10 Gurus of Sikhism and was given the title of Sikh Guru on March 26, 1552.
