Northern India was in the grip of a cold wave yesterday after heavy snowfall blocked roads and snapped power lines in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Dense fog in and around New Delhi delayed dozens of flights and at least 90 trains. At least 24 people have been killed from exposure to cold or in road accidents in Uttarakhand since Tuesday, NDTV news channel reported.
