Customers shop at a jewellery showroom on the occasion of Dhanteras, a Hindu festival associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, at a market in Jaipur yesterday. Hindus purchase ornaments and utensils on the occasion of the festival, celebrated two days before Diwali, the festival of lights. “We expect sales to be 20% higher this year compared to last year as gold price is ruling at a better level. There is a lot of traffic in the shop today,” Rahul Gupta, chief executive officer of P P Jewellers in New Delhi said. Gold price was around Rs27,700 per 10g in New Delhi yesterday compared to Rs32,000 last year.
