Newly appointed women city bus female conductors give tickets to passengers during the launching of Women City Bus service in Guwahati. The Women City Bus service was launched following women harassment in the daily city buses. The ladies city bus authorised by the state transport authority will contain women conductor and handyman. During the first phase, male drivers will run the buses to be replaced by female drivers later. In a first-of-its-kind move, as many as 12 women have been given martial art training to work on the new bus service. The city bus service for women will operate between 7-11am and 3-8pm every day. The buses will have CCTV cameras and also presence of lady police. Male children below the age of eight years will also be able to ride in such buses.
