Film star-turned-politician K B Ganesh Kumar, who first lost his Cabinet post after his then wife accused him of domestic violence and then got divorced, yesterday  married Bindu Menon at his ancestral home at Kottarakara near here.

The 47-year-old Kumar, the forest minister in the Oommen Chandy cabinet, had to resign on April 2, 2013 after his then wife, Yamini Thankachi, met the chief minister with a written complaint accusing the former minister of domestic violence.

The matter moved on to the courts but in a few days, an out-of-court settlement was reached with Kumar agreeing to give his then wife the home they had lived in the Kerala capital plus a huge sum of money.

After the settlement, the couple had to wait for the stipulated six months before appearing in front on October 22, 2013, when the divorce was granted.

The marriage ceremony yesterday was a closed door function with only close relatives and a few friends being invited.

It remains to be seen if Chandy will take back Kumar into the cabinet, when he revamps the Cabinet after the Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar is the lone legislator in the Kerala Congress (Pillai), led by his father R Balakrishna Pillai, who is one of the founders of the United Democratic Front - the present ruling coalition in the state.
