Goic’s training course will also focus on SWOT and PEST analyses
The Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic) has announced that it is scheduled to conduct a training course that would help companies determine the challenges involved in implementing corporate strategies.
Entitled “Balanced scorecards (BSCs) for a successful execution of the strategy,” the event is slated on September 13 to 17 at the Goic headquarters in Doha.
“This training course aims at determining current challenges to the successful implementation of a given strategy. It focuses on strategic analysis prior to the development of a corporate strategy (future business strategy) and stresses the importance of setting flexible goals to guide the institution or organisation,” Goic said in a statement.
It added: “The training also tackles communication issues at the administrative level and the will to change; it also identifies key factors that allow a successful execution of a given strategy and a quick review of BSCs.”
Goic said the training is open to department managers, decision makers, parties involved in the implementation of corporate strategies, planning staff, employees of institutions using BSCs, and various stakeholders in the area of strategy development and implementation.
The training course, according to Goic, aims to help participants develop a clear and successful strategy and understand the need for realistic strategic analysis to reinforce decision making throughout the planning process.
The event will also help expand participants’ knowledge on SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and PEST (political, economic, social, and technological) analyses.
It also helps participants understand external factors that could influence an institution’s activities; revisit and update the organisation’s vision, message, and values; set measurable overall objectives; transform corporate strategy into work plans; and develop performance indicators.
Goic said: “Furthermore, this course provides the participants with necessary tools to develop procedural steps transforming the strategy into reality and implementing a successful plan to set a coherent balance between the work plan and the budget.
“Each individual implementing the strategy and the use of BSCs is necessary to manage the execution of the strategy. In this regard, the training will expand on strategic progress, BSCs, and various options to manage BSC tools.”
The training will be facilitated by Dr Laila Diab Shrair, who is a strategic planning consultant at Goic Secretary General’s Office.
Shrair holds a doctorate degree in Quality Development and Strategic Planning from the University of Leeds in the UK. She is a UNDP-Abu Dhabi Consultant and took part in several major projects such as “The Knowledge-Based Economy” project with the World Bank and Qatar’s Labour Market Strategy with the World Bank and Qatar Vision 2030.
Goic seeks to promote individual and organisational capacities of the industrial sector in GCC countries and Yemen through its “Training and Capacity Development (TCD) programme.”
