The Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC) and Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate and mutually promote each other as incubation partners supportive of innovative business projects.
QBIC CEO Aysha al-Mudahka said, “We’re pleased to partner up with a renowned establishment such as QMIC, especially as it promotes forward thinking and innovation, both being essential factors for economic growth. The initiative will drive QBIC’s mission to develop the next QR100mn value companies in Qatar.”
Al-Mudahka said the recently-signed agreement “marks the beginning of a new chapter for both centres to leverage the use of emerging mobility technologies and startups in a number of various fields including transportation, road safety, and environment.”
QMIC executive director and CEO Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya said, “We are very glad to partner with QBIC in promoting a user-centric innovations agenda to enable the creation of viable startup companies in Qatar.
“We believe that our institutional innovation development and market delivery approach complements QBIC’s incubation model. We look forward to working with the QBIC team to identify best mechanisms to leverage our collective assets in terms of know-how, technology platforms, data, and emerging business opportunities.”
By following an institutional approach, Abu-Dayya said, QMIC’s main goal was to develop and use locally-engineered innovations and knowledge to create technology-based industries that address regional challenges and grow with mega projects in Qatar and the region.
“The partnership will bring opportunities for sharing platforms, data and knowledge between the centres, as well as paving the way for potential collaborations between QBIC entrepreneurs and QMIC projects,” Abu-Dayya added.
QMIC’s team of professionals will have the chance to collaborate with QBIC as part of the judging panel during selected events to evaluate incoming startup companies, and assess new business ideas.
QBIC will provide QMIC with a regular list of new ideas and concepts for future potential project collaborations. This partnership will create great opportunities for local talent and will be supported by the team of experts both in QMIC and QBIC.
