The Business Continuity Institute, a leading institution for business continuity and resilience professionals, will be hosting its annual BCI Middle East Conference in Doha on May 11 and 12.
The theme of the conference is “sustaining value through business continuity”.
This will be the second conference the BCI has hosted in the Middle East following the successful event in Dubai in 2014.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada will open the conference.
Al-Sada said, “The aim and objectives of the conference for providing a forum for sharing knowledge is timely and welcome to facilitate successful delivery of the goals incorporated in the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
This demonstrates the high profile nature of the conference and the importance that business continuity plays in ensuring that organisations are resilient to the growing number of threats that they face.
At the conference, al-Sada will launch the Qatar Business Continuity Management Guideline. The guideline is designed and developed by BCI Qatar Forum to help all types of organisations operating in Qatar, whether business, charity or government, and regardless of sector, size or activity, to be better-prepared and more confident to handle business disruptions of any type.
The programme will cover core business continuity practices enabling both new and experienced practitioners to share ideas and learn about the latest trends through a combination of case study presentations, interactive sessions and plenary addresses delivered by leading local and international experts.
James McAlister, vice-chair, Business Continuity Institute and chair of the BCI Middle East Conference said, “The Middle East is one of the most creative, innovative and growing business continuity regions of the world. The businesses that thrive there have the foresight and courage to acquire professionals from across the globe to enrich their resilience experience.
“A significant influence in their quest for knowledge is the BCI Middle East Conference. It brings together an amazing knowledge pool of international experts creating a unique platform for learning, networking and exposure to future resilience solutions.”
Abdullatif Ali al-Yafei, Qatar BCM Guideline Steering Committee chairman and member, BCI Qatar Forum, said, “We are happy with the establishment of this conference for the first time in Qatar and able to call many government and semi-government bodies and the energy sector, oil and gas, telecommunications, ICT, banking, private and public sectors to participate in the conference to benefit from the researches and presentations delivered by international expertise in the field of business continuity.”
