Ooredoo Group chairman HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani with Ooredoo Qatar CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani, al-Sayed and other Ooredoo and Cisco executives among others during the global launch of Cisco’s Mobility IQ in Barcelona recently.

Ooredoo is among three global companies that are supporting the global launch of Cisco’s Mobility IQ, breakthrough mobility software that “unlocks the power of visual network knowledge and drives unparalleled business outcomes for service providers.”
The global launch was held at the Mobile World Congress 2015 that concluded in Barcelona recently. The others supporting the initiative are Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, and Italy’s Telecom Italia.
Mobility IQ combines data from Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE network activity for real-time visibility into the network, user, and business intelligence.
With these insights, service providers and their business customers can deliver valuable, new, differentiated mobile services in marketing and managed services to their customers, while achieving new levels of network operational efficiency.
Demonstrating the strong opportunity for Middle East service providers, the Middle East and Africa (MEA) will post the world’s fastest growth rates for mobile data traffic to 2019, increasing 15-fold, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast, 2014-2019.
Thanks to increasing mobile devices, machine-to-machine connections, and mobile broadband, MEA is also posting the world’s fastest growth in mobile connection speeds and IPv6-capable devices.
By 2019, mobile data will represent 40%  of MEA’s total data traffic; worldwide Wi-Fi offload traffic will exceed cellular traffic.
One of the world’s best-connected countries, Qatar ranks third in the Middle East and Africa in active mobile broadband subscriptions at 76.8% in 2013, according to International Telecommunications Union’s State of Broadband 2014.
Ooredoo aims to make Qatar the world’s best broadband country, with 100% 4G+ LTE-Advanced mobile broadband and fiber optic network penetration in 2015.
In line with Ooredoo’s vision of enriching people’s lives, the company has deployed the advanced ICT infrastructure for Qatar’s megaprojects, with business intelligence opening up opportunities in retail advertising, safety and security, and Smart Cities.
Waleed Mohamed al-Sayed, Ooredoo Qatar chief operating officer, said, “As the number one fastest-growing telecommunications company in the world by revenue, Ooredoo has been a leader in innovation and disruption when it comes to offering superior experiences to our customers. Mobility – Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G – are key in delivering on our vision of enriching people’s lives and is at the heart of everything we do.
“Our strategy of deploying Wi-Fi alongside our cellular networks is a major first step. Deriving knowledge from the network is the next key aspect of helping our consumers and business partners excel in their business outcomes. That is why we share Cisco Mobility IQ’s vision for real-time intelligence that is highly visual and easily configured for each business customer, while integrating Wi-Fi and cellular insights. We are committed to exploring the possibilities of pushing this vision and are excited to take this journey.”
Cisco Qatar general manager Mohamed Hammoudi said, “Our service provider customers in Qatar can now take a great leap forward by using Mobility IQ to transform their networks to deliver profitable business outcomes, in line with our service provider strategy. Both service providers and their customers have a powerful new solution that helps them to understand their own networks better and optimise service delivery, and as a result increase revenue.”
