Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration of Qatar Chamber recently concluded the preparatory stages of a training programme on the “The Qualification and Preparation of Arbitrators 2015”.
The programme was conducted in co-operation with the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre for a number of commercial legal experts and arbitrators.
“This is the first time that QC organises such training programme. Its next phase will be conducted between February 15 and 18 on the procedures and management of arbitration cases,” said Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, QC chairman.
He said that around 20 trainees took part at the programme, while QC will sponsor four more trainees from Qatar University undergraduate students; he expected more turnout of trainees in the next stages.
The first stages of the programme addressed the issues related to arbitration, its legal nature, and  the regulations and standards that govern it.
QC is undertaking such programmes due to the growing trend within the business community around the world to resolve their disputes through arbitration to maintain a smooth running of trade and business transactions, without having to resort to normal courts with extended time and procedures.
