Dolphin Energy has awarded three contractors for their “sustained commitment” to improving communication strategies and enhancing overall standards across Health, Safety, and the Environment (HSE) in a ceremony held on November 19 at the Al Sharq Village & Spa Hotel.

The company’s “7th Annual HSE Contractors Meeting” gathered Dolphin Energy’s key contractors under the theme of “The Road to a Safer Workplace in Partnership.” The meeting provided participants the opportunity to share experiences and to strengthen mutual relationships.

Awards and certificates of appreciation were distributed to Descon Engineering, which received the Contractor of the Year 2014 award while Larsen & Toubro and Schlumberger Overseas were selected as the runners up.

The meeting was led by Dolphin Energy deputy general manager Mohamed al-Sulaiti and senior management team, CEO Hassan al-Emadi, senior VP HSE & Security Ali al-Rahbi, HSE&S manager Jassim al-Malki, and Operations Planning director Ahmed al-Jumaily.

Dolphin Energy general manager Adel Albuainain said, “When you consider the risks and challenges associated with the energy industry, an effective and productive partnership between the company and its contractors is vital. As such, our contractors collaborate with us to improve HSE performance and strengthen the safety culture across the company and it is only right that their efforts are recognised and rewarded.”

He added, “We have implemented programmes that focus on continuous improvement and engaged with our employees to emphasise sound safety processes and procedures. We are also actively removing risk in the workplace and continually measuring and improving our performance.”

The meeting was also highlighted by a poster presentation competition with Descon Engineering receiving an award and certificate for the best poster followed by Anabeeb Services in second place and PII Pipeline Solutions (GE) in third place.
